Film showing of “The interrogation” (Visaranai) @ McConomy Auditorium
Nov 18 @ 6:00 pm

Presented by CMU International Film Festival

The Interrogation (Visaranai), India’s entry for the 89th Academy Awards, underscores questions of justice, oppression, and truth – leaving our identity as human beings prisoner to a system beyond our control. Visaranai follows the lives of four Tamil laborers as they seek to create their own identity in a new home. We follow our main character Pandi through love, mistaken identity, and the desire to retain his individuality. Adapted from the true story of M. Chandrakumar, who’s book “Lock Up” recounts these events from his youth, Visaranai leaves the viewer to question who do you become when you are treated with such contempt by a system supposedly born to ensure order and safety?
